Frank Vogel is the head coach of the Phoenix Suns, a job he took on after leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a championship in the 2020 NBA Bubble.
He built his coaching résumé over more than two decades in the league, working his way up from an assistant with the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers to head coaching stops with the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, Lakers, and now the Suns.
Away from the sidelines, much of his personal life centers on his wife, Jenifer, and their two daughters.

How Frank and Jenifer Met
Frank and Jennifer’s story traces back to an unlikely source, the 1999 NBA lockout. At the time, Frank was working long hours as a video coordinator for the Celtics under Rick Pitino, a job that kept him watching film for most of every day.
The lockout unexpectedly freed up his schedule, giving him time to have something resembling a social life for the first time in years. It was during that stretch, while he was in Boston, that he met Jenifer.
Frank has credited that work stoppage with changing the course of his personal life, saying that without it, he likely never would have had the free time to meet the woman who became his wife. Their relationship grew from there, and the couple married in 2002, three years after they first crossed paths.
Their Family and Life Together
Since marrying, Frank and Jenifer have raised two daughters together, Arianna and Alexa. Coaching has meant frequent travel and long stretches away from home, but the family has stayed close despite the demands of Frank’s job.
Both daughters have spoken about what it was like growing up with a father often on the road, describing the situation as fun overall, even though they did not get to see him as much as they would have liked when he was coaching.
One notable stretch of family time came in 2016, after the Pacers moved on from Frank following another early playoff exit. Rather than treating the firing purely as a setback, Frank used the year off to be a full-time presence at home with Jenifer and their daughters, who were teenagers at the time.
He has since described that period as something close to a sabbatical, a rare chance for a coach to step back and spend uninterrupted time with his family before returning to the bench with the Orlando Magic.
Jenifer and the girls have remained supportive through the highs of Frank’s career, including his championship run with the Lakers inside the NBA Bubble in 2020. Even though the family spent much of that unusual season watching from home due to pandemic restrictions, they were on hand when the Lakers closed out the Miami Heat to claim the franchise’s 17th title.
